Todos Somos Soñadores
UVU BFA Senior Project • April 2018
Translating from Spanish to "We are all dreamers", the purpose of this project was to turn something plain and simple into something beautiful; the public display of a creative vision. This mural is a reflection of the unique and beautiful Latin culture, merged into a diverse community of opportunity. My goal was to create a piece of art bigger than I ever thought I was capable of. The individuality I was able to put into this project made it an incredible experience.

Concept
Upon receiving permission to paint on the back wall of a local Dominican restaurant, I used a portrait of Frida Kahlo as inspiration for the silhouette of my subject. I designed the mural to scale in Adobe Illustrator based on the mentioned theme and added some palm trees as a tropical aspect to connect back to the restaurant.

Process
I had never done a mural before and therefore knew nothing about where to begin. Once I projected and traced the design, I realized it was much bigger than I anticipated. I recruited lots of help from family and friends to help me prime and paint with ladders and scaffodling.

Outcome
I am surrounded by wonderful friends and family that came to my BFA show to support me. I was honored to share the outcome of a very ambitious project that allowed me to see a creative vision all the way through.
